Lauren Sánchez wife of Jeff Bezos: Lauren Sánchez is about to be the belle of the ball on May 6.
The journalist and philanthropist, 54, is set to make her Met Gala debut on the first Monday in May, as Page Six first reported on April 20, and it looks like she might just have the help of Anna Wintour herself in picking out her look.
According to fashion journalist (and Wintour expert) Amy Odell, the Vogue editor in chief will be dictating what Sánchez will wear when she walks up the steps at the Metropolitan Museum of Art with fiancé Jeff Bezos, 60.

“Anna Wintour is personally helping Sánchez with selecting her dress,” an insider told Odell, adding that “she was choosing between custom looks by Oscar de la Renta and two other designers.”
Odell went on to explain on her Substack, Back Row, that attending the Met Gala will help elevate Sánchez’s star power. Having already worked with the future Mrs. Bezos on her December 2023 profile for the magazine, Wintour is primed to welcome her for not just the Met Gala but also potentially a wedding feature as well when the time comes.

Sánchez recently turned heads at an April 10 state dinner at the White House, where she wore a racy off-the-shoulder red gown featuring intricate lace detail, corset-like boning and a floor-length skirt. She complemented the look with metallic open-toe heels. Her skin-baring design stood out from the formal crowd at the dinner. Bezos escorted her for the night wearing a classic black tux, complete with white button-down shirt and black bow tie.

This year’s Met Gala — whose theme is “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion” — has a dress code of “The Garden of Time.” It’s inspired by J.G. Ballard’s 1962 short story of the same name. The story follows a count and countess living “in their utopia of leisure, art, and beauty,” according to Vogue. However, as a mob looms outside their villa, the count “must pluck a time-reversing flower from his garden until there are none left.”

In short, the theme is about “fleeting beauty,” Vogue states, and we can expect lots of florals (if people follow the theme!).
