Kelly Ripa is reflecting on her past hairstyle decisions from her television appearances.
During preparations to relocate their Live with Kelly and Mark studio, Ripa and husband Mark Consuelos revisited style memories during their final April 1 broadcast at 7 Lincoln Square. The longtime hosts will soon operate from a new downtown location.
When asked about beauty regrets from her tenure, Ripa confessed to PEOPLE that none of her televised hairstyles withstand current scrutiny.
“Every single one. Without exception,” the television personality revealed, noting that “each haircut left emotional scars.”
Consuelos countered, praising his wife’s various looks while recalling his own experimental longer hairstyle during the show’s run – a look both partners remember fondly.
Ripa emphasized the challenges of maintaining continuity awareness during daily broadcasts. “When you’re immersed in production, you develop professional amnesia,” she explained. “We complete each episode and immediately focus on the next, leaving few lasting impressions.”
The host contrasted this with her vivid memories of watching original presenters Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford during her All My Children days. “Observing as a viewer creates different memories than participating as a host,” Ripa observed.
While Consuelos officially joined as co-host in April 2023, Ripa’s 2001 start date means their family shares deep ties to the original studio. “Our children essentially grew up here,” Consuelos shared. “They visited constantly from infancy, always backstage during productions.”
