Mike Tyson Says He Doesn’t Remember Much of Jake Paul Fight: ‘Don’t Know What the Hell Was Going on’
Mike Tyson doesn’t remember much from his majorly hyped fight against Jake Paul.
The 58-year-old boxing legend reflected on his loss to Paul, 27, on Nov. 15 during a new interview with Covino & Rich on Fox Sports, admitting that he “blanked out a little” during the contest.
“I don’t remember the fight that much, I kind of blanked out a little,” he told the hosts on Monday, Dec. 9.
“I remember coming back from the first round and Jake is doing some kind of…I don’t know what he was doing,” Tyson continued, mimicking Paul’s bow in the ring. “And that’s the last thing I remember,” he shared.
Tyson also admitted to questioning why he even put himself through the trouble of fighting Paul during the interview.
“The day after I woke up and said to my wife, ‘Why did I do that?’ I just don’t know what the hell was going on,” Tyson, who has been married to Lahika Spicer since 2009, added.
And although he doesn’t remember too much of what went down in the ring, Tyson’s body reminded him the day after the fight. “I don’t remember it, but my body was really sore, my chest, my stomach was really sore,” Tyson said.
When asked if he would change anything about the fight with Paul, Tyson said, “Not at all.”
He also addressed the viral bare-butt moment from his fight with Paul, telling the hosts that he thought the reaction to his butt was “ridiculous” and that he’s “been that way” — i.e bare-butted — his “whole career.”
A day after losing the match, Tyson shared a candid statement to X (formerly Twitter), revealing that he “almost died” in June and underwent multiple blood transfusions to recover.
“This is one of those situations when you lost but still won,” Tyson wrote in the post. “I’m grateful for last night. No regrets to get in ring one last time.”
He continued: “I almost died in June. Had 8 blood transfusions. Lost half my blood and 25lbs in hospital and had to fight to get healthy to fight so I won. To have my children see me stand toe to toe and finish 8 rounds with a talented fighter half my age in front of a packed Dallas Cowboy stadium is an experience that no man has the right to ask for. Thank you 🙏.”
