Nara Smith Responds to TikTok Trolls Making Fun of Her ‘Too Short’ Haircut with Expert-Level Hair-Growth Recipe
Nara Smith is responding to haters in true Nara Smith fashion — with a from-scratch recipe.
The lifestyle TikTok content creator posted a video in response to trolls on the platform making mean comments about her hair following her recent haircut. Smith, 23, responded to her haters with another homemade creation — hair products meant to stimulate hair growth.
“A couple weeks ago, I got a haircut that was definitely too short,” Smith says in her Dec. 11 TikTok voiceover. “My bangs are a lot shorter than I want them, and the back of my head is something that I don’t even want to talk about.”
She continues, “So in order to fix it, I need to make my hair grow as quickly as I can.”
The video featured a tutorial on rosemary water and a multi-ingredient hair oil, both containing ingredients that are often associated with hair growth.
Smith incorporated rosemary in both the water spray and hair oil. Rosemary is a vasodilator, according to VeryWell Health, which can improve blood flow — this has led researchers to believe the ingredient stimulates hair follicles and improves scalp health.
Olive oil was the base of her second homemade product, which is a carrier oil — these are used to dilute the strength of the rosemary to prevent irritation and boost moisture and absorption, according to Healthline.
Smith then added argan, jojoba, sweet almond and peppermint oils, as well as vitamin E, to her rosemary-olive oil infusion, all of which have strengthening and moisturizing properties.
All of the ingredients in Smith’s hair oil and spray have hair-benefitting qualities and may stimulate hair growth, though many are not proven to actually make hair grow faster or longer.
Smith’s hair growth recipe comes after the first video she posted with her new, short bob. On Dec. 6, Smith posted herself getting ready to go on live TV and filmed the whole day leading up to the moment she walked on stage.
But TikTokers fixated instead on how the bob looked from the back.
“I know I said I would chop my hair off for fashion, but I slightly regretted that decision when I saw just how short my bangs were this morning,” she said at the beginning of the video’s voiceover.
She continued, “So if you see me wearing a hat more than usual, that’s why.”
