Jennifer Love Hewitt Wants to Be the ‘Ghost of ’90s Past’ in I Know What You Did Last Summer Reboot

“They have an amazing young cast that’s in it,” she said. “I’m hoping to come back as the ghost of ’90s past, and we’ll see what happens.”

“It won’t be the same without you,” host Jennifer Hudson said.

I Know What You Did Last Summer was loosely based on Lois Duncan’s novel released in 1973. Following the success of the 1997 movie, the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer was released in 1998, and I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer followed in 2006. Prime Video debuted a reboot series titled I Know What You Did Last Summer in 2021.

Freddie Prinze Jr. is returning to the franchise as Ray Bronson, while Hewitt said there have been talks of Brandy Norwood also returning.

Hewitt, who stars in the festive new movie The Holiday Junkie, revealed on the I’ve Never Said This Before with Tommy DiDario podcast that scheduling issues have delayed reprising her role in I Know What You Did Last Summer.

“I really want to do something, and I want to be there for Julie James fans,” Hewitt said. “I just want it to feel like, you know, if she comes back then it means something.”
