Lady Gaga’s Fiancé Michael Polansky Built Her a Home Studio for Valentine’s Day: ‘It’s Kind of Romantic’
Lady Gaga is swooning over her soon-to-be husband.
In the newest episode of Rolling Stone‘s online series The Breakdown, Gaga, 38, revealed the “romantic” gift fiancé Michael Polansky gave her for Valentine’s Day earlier this year.
“Michael built a home studio,” the Grammy winner revealed. “For Valentine’s Day, he said, ‘I have a surprise for you,’ and he turned his office into a music studio. I mean, it’s kind of romantic.”
While discussing her single “Disease,” the Joker: Folie à Deux star added that she “sort of nested” in some of the famous Malibu studios she frequents and how they begin to “feel like an extension of my home” — so having a studio at her actual home sounds like the perfect gift.
Gaga and Polansky, 46, were first linked romantically in 2020 when they were seen kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas. A few weeks later, they went public.
She confirmed their engagement in July 2024. While talking to French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at the Paris Olympics, she introduced the tech entrepreneur as her “fiancé.”
“Working with Michael is super, super interesting because he knows me so well,” the Grammy winner told RS. “When we were working on ‘Disease,’ I was navigating my way through some of the initial lyrics that we had written in the studio…Michael and I were sitting together and we were all working on the song and he said, ‘You know there’s another way for you to say this.’ “
She added that his suggestion was “super intimate” and spoke about how he felt “comfortable” vocalizing it because he “really knew” her.
Polansky — a businessman and entrepreneur who holds several roles among nonprofits and companies, including as the executive director at Parker Foundation, a philanthropic organization from Sean Parker, co-founder of Facebook and Napster — has contributed to Gaga’s music before. He previously served as a co-executive producer on her Harlequin companion album for Joker: Folie à Deux.
“I think part of, maybe, the magic of my relationship is that I can completely be my full creative self,” the singer continued to RS. “It makes the producing process and the writing process really fluid with home life, too. It’s like a beautiful way to live. I’m really grateful for that.”
The Haus Labs founder added that it was “so special” working with Polansky on “Disease,” which was released on Oct. 25.
“I think that this song and the lyrics took on a much deeper meaning because we were able to tap into maybe some things that I didn’t really want to admit that I was writing about and, like, we were able to do that,” said Gaga.
“Something that Michael said to me every day that I was working is he said, ‘Go do what you were born to do and do it with every cell in your body and have fun and be confident in your music,” the singer-songwriter revealed.
