Sydel Curry-Lee and Damion Lee Expecting Baby No. 3 After Infertility Struggles: ‘Newest Little Miracle’
After sharing her fertility journey openly online, Sydel Curry-Lee is expanding her family once again.
On Thanksgiving, the content creator — NBA star Steph Curry’s little sister — announced that she and her husband, pro basketball player Damion Lee, 32, are expecting their third child together. The couple already shares son Daxon, 3, and daughter Daryn, 15 months.
“Thankful to say the least!” Curry-Lee, 30, captioned a video of Lee holding her baby bump as the family of four stood in front of the Christmas tree. “We are so excited to announce our newest little miracle that we never could have imagined. After experiencing the miracle of IVF we are now living in the miracle of natural conception due May 2025 🥹 Thank you Lord! #LeeForThree #babynumber3.”
Days later, Curry-Lee continued to keep her followers updated on her pregnancy, sharing all of her mixed emotions about becoming a soon-to-be family of five.
On Tuesday, Dec. 3, Curry-Lee recorded herself in the bathroom alongside her husband. The Instagram Reel — which was filmed on Sept. 29 — begins with both parents expressing their disbelief at expecting once again. Curry-Lee said she was just telling a friend that she had 11 embryos left after IVF, but she wasn’t sure what they were going to do with them.
“If you’re wondering why we don’t seem that surprised, and we’re so like, ‘Dang, the reality of it really kicked in’ kind of … we were putting the kids to bed tonight, just doing our normal routine, and I got a notification on my phone, or my Flow app, that said my period was 11 days late,” Curry-Lee explained, speaking to the camera.
“I have taken multiple pregnancy tests throughout being postpartum with Daryn, just ’cause my period is very regular,” she continued. “Obviously going into each and every one of them being like, ‘No, I’m not pregnant,’ because we spent two years trying to have a baby, and ended up having to do IVF to get our kids.”
Instead, however, Curry-Lee said the positive line appeared very quickly on the first test she took. She also opened up about her more difficult feelings surrounding the news.
“Obviously there’s a lot of emotions. I just started feeling like myself again. I just stopped breastfeeding. I just got my body back, like myself. I was making plans, like for my career,” she admitted.
Lee added some support for his wife’s feelings, saying it was “just gonna take her some time to process, that’s all.”
In her caption, Curry-Lee confirmed his sentiment: “Looking back on this I can’t help but be so thankful for TIME! Time to work through emotions and get used to new ideas of life and how you saw your life going! It shows that’s EVERYTHING happens for a reason even if you are shook to the core with its initial arrival!” she wrote.
The soon-to-be mom of three noted that there was “a lot going on behind the scenes with me mentally at this time as well which also impacted my initial reaction.” She added, “But I am so grateful for this blessing and baby already feels like the missing piece to our puzzle.”
In addition to her caption, the influencer typed out a “disclaimer and sensitivity warning” to preface her video. She acknowledged that many of her followers started tuning into her content because they could relate to her fertility journey, IVF experience and “the obstacles and path that comes with trying to start a family when it doesn’t come ‘easy,'” her note read.
“The video you are about to watch is a raw and real reaction just minutes after confirming our 3rd pregnancy thinking it would never happen this way,” she wrote. “I never want to come off ungrateful or insensitive to what others are going through therefore, if you are still in your waiting phase whether that is for baby number 1 or baby number 16 please proceed with caution.”
She went on to state that while she feels differently now, over two months later, she doesn’t regret her initial reaction. “It is real and all of my feelings deserve space and time to work through. Emotions are ever evolving and that is the beauty of life,” Curry-Lee explained. “If you have found yourself feeling this same way, I see you. Having a child is a HUGE responsibility and nothing that should be taken lightly so while I believe all pregnancies are a miracle, they can be extremely heavy at the same time.”
