Jordan Fisher Says Working on First Hallmark Film Was ‘Dream Scenario’ as a Dad: ‘I Got to Bring My Family’ (Exclusive)

Jordan Fisher is singing his praise for Hallmark.

The To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You star opened up about his experience creating his first Hallmark film, The 5-Year Christmas Party, and getting to share it with his family in an exclusive conversation with PEOPLE.

“Everyone is lovely and happy to be there,” said Fisher, 30, at Bloomingdale’s “Wicked Good Window Unveiling” in New York City on Nov. 13. “There’s dogs running around and kids running around. That was very much the case here.”

“I got to bring my family with me,” he also recalled. “And I literally got to block a scene holding my son [Riley William Fisher], and let him run off and play with mom while I was working.”

The actor and musician and his wife Ellie Woods welcomed Riley in 2022. Since then, Fisher has said that welcoming their child to the family has changed his “purpose” when it comes to his career and life, and he now tries to incorporate his family wherever, and whenever, he can.

“[The 5-Year Christmas Party] just was, I think, kind of a dream scenario as a working actor, and also a father and a family man,” he explained to PEOPLE.

The Teen Beach Movie star added that he had “a lot of fun” working on the film, which he had spent about three weeks shooting in Canada.

And though he notes that the Hallmark film was “fast-paced,” he said “none of the days” working on the film “were stressful.”

“You know I’ve heard [tales] from a handful of friends, colleagues that had worked on these Hallmark movies, and they’re like, ‘Dude, you are going to love it.’ It’s so laid back,” Fisher said.

“I got to be a part of that this year, and I loved it,” he added. “I loved every bit of it. I would do it again, time and time again.”

The 5-Year Christmas Party, which also stars Katie Findlay, follows two theater school rivals who reunite each holiday season to work at a Chicago catering company’s Christmas parties, according to a synopsis of the film.

Sparks eventually fly between the pair, and the company’s final season pushes them to confront their true feelings.

Fisher also stars as Orpheus on Broadway’s Hadestown, a role which he will be leaving in January. He told PEOPLE that he will be taking a bit of a break following the run to spend some downtime with his family.

“We’re gonna go visit some friends,” he shared of plans with his family. “I think, go ski a little bit and just kind of rest for a moment. And then [get] right back at it.”

The 5-Year Christmas Party airs Nov. 17 on Hallmark Channel.
