Jonas Brothers Perform Stripped-Down Cover of One Direction’s ‘Night Changes’ After Liam Payne’s Death

Nick, 32, kicked off the track singing and strumming his acoustic guitar.

“Goin’ out tonight, changes into somethin’ red / Her mother doesn’t like that kind of dress /Everything she never had, she’s showin’ off,” he began.

Kevin, 37, also played the acoustic guitar as Joe, 35, alternated vocals with Nick. The trio came together to harmonize throughout the song.

Payne died on Oct. 16 following a fall from a third-floor balcony of a Buenos Aires hotel.

The former One Direction member’s toxicology report, shared on Nov. 7, revealed that he had traces of “alcohol, cocaine and prescription antidepressants” in his body, according to the press release translated from Spanish.

“This conclusion was reached after the complete toxicology tests on urine, blood and vitreous humour,” the press release stated

Sources confirmed to ABC News on Oct. 21 that a partial autopsy revealed Payne had “multiple substances in his system” at the time of his death. Per ABC’s reporting, one of the substances found was “pink cocaine,” a recreational drug that generally includes a combination of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA — and not necessarily cocaine — according to the National Capital Poison Center.

The insiders also told the publication that “an improvised aluminum pipe” used to ingest drugs was found in Payne’s hotel room.

The aforementioned press release revealed that three people were arrested and charged in Argentina in connection with Payne’s death after falling from the hotel balcony.

The suspects were charged with abandonment of a person followed by death as well as supply and facilitation of narcotics. However, they have not been named.

Since Payne’s death, other artists have paid tribute to the late singer. Maggie Rogers also covered One Direction’s “Night Changes” during her concert on Oct. 17, while Shawn Mendes dedicated his track “Heart of Gold” to Payne during his Oct. 18 show.
