Jerry Seinfeld’s 3 Kids: All About Sascha, Julian and Shepherd

Jerry Seinfeld may not have any children on-screen in the semi-fictional sitcom Seinfeld, but in real life, he’s a proud husband to Jessica Seinfeld and father of three accomplished children: Sascha, 24, Julian, 21, and Shepherd, 18.

That said, Jerry wasn’t exactly a “natural” when his first child was born. “He wasn’t immediately pushing strollers and carrying babies,” Jessica told Parents magazine in 2020. “He jokes that it took him a good 10 years to warm up.”

“He travels often and usually over weekends, so a lot of the early caretaking, sports and activities were left to me,” she added.

Once the couple’s kids were in their teens, however, Jerry found his footing as a father and role model.

“Jerry’s strength is now, with our three teenagers,” Jessica said. “He’s patient with them. Where I am weaker, he is stronger, and we complement each other. I wouldn’t change anything.”

Jessica and all three of the kids were there to support Jerry at the premiere of his new Netflix movie, Unfrosted, in April 2024. The entire family posed for photos together on the carpet after they arrived.

Here’s everything to know about Jerry Seinfeld’s three children.

Sascha Betty Seinfeld, 24

Jerry and Jessica’s oldest child, Sascha Betty, was born on Nov. 7, 2000, in New York. “Both parents and baby are doing great,” Seinfeld’s rep told the Associate Press at the time.

Years later, Sascha celebrated her bat mitzvah, which was held two weeks after her 13th birthday, E! News reported. Many of her parents’ famous friends were in attendance, including George Stephanopoulos and Andy Cohen.

When she was 15, Jerry taught Sascha how to drive — specifically, how to drive a stick shift.

“I taught my daughter to drive a stick,” Jerry told PEOPLE at an event in April 2016. She learned on “an old beat-up Land Rover with a stick shift,” he continued. “I was very proud of her. Because I’m a car guy, I want my daughter to drive a stick.”

In 2019, Sascha graduated from The Chapin School, an all-girls independent day school located on the Upper East Side in New York City.

Jessica commemorated the day with an Instagram post. “ConGraduations to all class of 2019er’s, but specifically to our firstborn, 😻 Sascha Betty Seinfeld,” she wrote in the caption. “😻We are so proud to be your parents.”

Four years later, Sascha graduated from Duke University.

While she was in college, Sascha helped write a sketch for the first episode of season 5 of Inside Amy Schumer. Jessica expressed how proud she was of her daughter on Instagram, and Sascha reposted the news on her own Instagram Story, writing that she was “honored” to have been part of the “incredible” season.

Julian Kal Seinfeld, 21

Three years following the birth of their first child, the Seinfelds welcomed their first son, Julian Kal. Julian was born on March 1, 2003.

Not long before Jerry taught Sascha how to drive, he and the rest of the Seinfeld family celebrated Julian’s bar mitzvah, an occasion which Jessica playfully labeled “Jew-Chella.”

“We had Jew-Chella meaning Friday night service, Saturday service, rager on Saturday night and then Sunday morning brunch with my family,” Jessica told PEOPLE. “We had a raging party in New York City where people aged 70 down to age 5 were on the dance floor for five hours straight. It was so fun!”

According to Julian’s LinkedIn profile, he attended Ethical Culture Fieldston School, a private independent school in New York City, and graduated in May 2021.

“Cheers to the global class of 2021 and especially our very own graduate. We love you ❤️ and the lifelong friends made at the extraordinary @ecfs1878,” Jessica wrote in a congratulatory Instagram post. “We will miss teachers, parents, administrators and kids who have made Ethical Culture/Fieldston the joyful, caring (and complicated) place it is. Thank you all for working so hard, through the pandemic, and for making an in-person commencement possible.”

Following in his sister’s footsteps, Julian is now studying at Duke University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in sociology. He is expected to graduate in 2025.

Shepherd Kellen Seinfeld, 20

The youngest of the Seinfeld children, Shepherd Kellen, was born on Aug. 22, 2005.

“I love having a family and kids and all the madness,” Jerry told Parade in 2010. “There is no aspect of it I don’t like. Even when it’s horrible, I love it. I didn’t realize how tired of single life I was and how ready I was for married life.”

Shepherd is relatively private, but he has been seen with his family on several special occasions, including attending the annual gala for Jessica’s charity GOOD+ Foundation. He also met President Joe Biden in 2016 with his parents and older siblings.

In 2022, the family of five reunited for a vacation to Italy, where Jessica shared rare photos of Shepherd, Sascha and Julian on Instagram. “We are all reunited after too many months apart,” she captioned one of the images taken in Capri, Italy.

Jerry and Jessica moved Shepherd into his college dorm at Duke University in August 2024.

“All 3 baby birds have flown. Hope all of you first timers or last timers are holding up,” the cookbook author wrote on Instagram.
