Charli xcx Is Bringing Brat to SNL as She Makes Hosting Debut and Does Double Duty as Musical Guest
Studio 8H is about to become brat.
Charli xcx will be making her hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on Nov. 16, the late-night sketch comedy show announced on Oct. 31. The episode will also see her double-duty as the musical guest, too.
The appearance marks her third time as a musical guest. She first performed in 2014 and was last on in 2022. Although, given the cultural impact her latest album, Brat, has had, the British singer has already been impersonated once on this season of SNL.
Charli’s SNL hosting gig comes after she released a remix album for Brat, which featured the album’s songs with new star-studded collaborators including Billie Eilish, Tinashe and Ariana Grande.
In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, she reflected on the “very different position that [she’s in] post the release of Brat.”
“From where I was to now, I’m definitely finding more than ever that my words are being picked apart, taken out of context. I offend a lot more people by doing exactly the same things,” she said, referring to the massive cultural impact Brat has had since its June release. “Nothing groundbreaking here, but I suppose because no one really cared too much before what I was doing on a personal day-to-day level.”
She continued, “It’s hard. It’s hard to be constantly scrutinized for things that you have said. It’s hard for your words to be taken out of context and then really kind of feel that you just can’t defend yourself because that would open a whole other can of worms.”
SNL also announced the line-up for the Nov. 9 show, which will be hosted by Bill Burr and feature the musical guest debut of Mk.gee. It’ll be the comedian’s second time hosting.
This week’s episode, the pre-election show, will be hosted by SNL alum John Mulaney, who will be joined by musical guest Chappell Roan.
When he was announced as host on Sept. 18, Mulaney, 42, jokingly captioned an Instagram post, “This is the first I’m hearing of this.”
Since the 50th season premiere on Sept. 28, SNL has welcomed Jean Smart, Nate Bargatze, Ariana Grande and Michael Keaton as hosts. Jelly Roll, Coldplay, Stevie Nicks and Billie Eilish have all performed as musical guests.
Saturday Night Live airs Saturdays at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
