Reese Witherspoon Says It’s ‘So Fun’ Hitting Red Carpet Alongside Her Son Deacon (Exclusive)

Reese Witherspoon and her son Deacon Phillippe are stepping out in style!

The Morning Show actress, 48, and Phillippe, 21, posed together on the red carpet of WSJ. Magazine’s 2024 Innovator Awards, which took place on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at the Museum of Modern Art.

While on the red carpet, Witherspoon exclusively tells PEOPLE that having her son by her side is “so fun!”

The You’re Cordially Invited actress stunned in a sleek Maticevski Rhythm Dressone-shoulder black dress with subtle ruffles details that accentuated her shape. Her blonde hair was sleek and down and she completed her look with simple ankle-strap heels.

Phillippe, whom Witherspoon shares with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, kept his look classy and minimal with a black suit, white button-up and no tie.

The actress, 48, also wore a classy look on the red carpet in September at the Emmys, where she was nominated for outstanding lead actress in a drama series for her work on The Morning Show. 

Witherspoon stunned in a black Dior strapless dress that featured floral and butterfly detailing that cascaded down the bodice and tulle skirt. 

She paired the sophisticated gown with a bun. Her glam featured a smokey eye and a light lip color. She accessorized the look with a necklace, earrings and rings featuring yellow jewels, along with a gold clutch.

Witherspoon has also been embracing fall in her closet. 

On an Oct. 1 date in New York City with her boyfriend, Oliver Haarmann, the Legally Blonde actress wore a professional-looking outfit complete with a classic tan blazer. She wore all-black underneath, from her shoes to her bag. 

She dressed down the look with a hat sporting the logo for the New York Islanders, an NHL team that Haarmann is a minority owner of.

During the date, the couple met with Phillippe at Cafe Cluny in the West Village neighborhood of Manhattan.

A source recently told PEOPLE that the actress is “having fun” with her businessman boyfriend. 

“Reese loves that he’s a businessman and not into Hollywood,” the source said.

Witherspoon has also worn other fall staples throughout the season, including bootcut jeans. She wore high-waisted dark blue jeans at the 2024 Shine Away event for her brand Hello Sunshine in Los Angeles earlier this month. 

Witherspoon wore another pair of wide-leg jeans recently in an Instagram post of her eating pizza while sitting on the floor.

The Big Little Lies actress paired the jeans with another fall classic — black Chelsea boots with rugged lug soles. 

She wore the boots with a casual look consisting of a field jacket and black tee.
