Jeremy Allen White Channels Bruce Springsteen’s Denim Style on Set of the Singer’s Upcoming Biopic
Jeremy Allen White is in Bruce Springsteen’s home state as he films scenes for an upcoming biopic based on the rock star’s life.
On Monday, Oct. 28, White, 33, appeared dressed in blue jeans, dark boots and a flannel-lined jacket on the Montclair, N.J., set of Deliver Me from Nowhere, a movie that will follow Springsteen, now 75, during the making of the legendary musician’s hit 1982 album, Nebraska.
White could also be seen wearing a black leather jacket and matching scally cap the same day. The outfit was similar to one that he wore in the movie’s first official image showingThe Bear star as Springsteen, who is best known for hits like “Born to Run” and his lengthy live-performances with the E Street Band.
The actor was first reported to be in talks to portray Springsteen back in March. The movie’s cast will also feature Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s longtime mentor and manager, Jon Landau, while Paul Walter Hauser will appear as guitar tech Mike Batlan, according to a press release shared by 20th Century Studios on Monday.
Additionally, Odessa Young will portray Springsteen’s love interest Faye, with Stephen Graham set to play Springsteen’s father and Johnny Cannizzaro joining the ensemble as E Street Band member and guitarist Steve Van Zandt.
Deliver Me from Nowhere is directed by Scott Cooper for 20th Century Studios. The biopic is adapted from Warren Zanes‘ 2023 novel, Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska.
“Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” Cooper, 54, said of the project in a statement, per the release. “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. The album’s raw, unvarnished portrayal of life’s trials and resilience resonates deeply with me.”
Springsteen said during an Oct. 18th appearance on The Graham Norton Show that he is “involved a little” in the upcoming project.
“This is not easy to do because you can’t do an imitation, you have to do a personal interpretation,” he said of how White will tackle portraying him and singing in his voice. “It’s difficult, but he is a great actor and sings pretty good.”
Deliver Me from Nowhere is slated for 2025 theatrical release.
