Michael J. Fox Doesn’t Think His Daughters Have Ever Seen Back to the Future II

Michael J. Fox’s kids are some of his biggest supporters — but he claims they haven’t seen all of his films!

During a Back to the Future panel at Los Angeles Comic Con on Friday, Oct. 4, the actor was asked about the range of characters he portrayed throughout the trilogy, including Marty McFly’s daughter, Marlene — and what his real-life daughters thought of his performance.

“I don’t know if my daughters have seen it,” Fox, 63, said.

As for how Fox was able to portray multiple characters, he said, “We had expectations. We took that pretty seriously. We want to be great.”

“We want to make Bob happy most of all and just came through,” Fox added of the sci-fi films’ co-writer Bob Gale.

Fox shares three daughters and one son with Tracy Pollan, his wife of more than 30 years. His kids frequently make appearances on his social media, where he spends holidays with the entire family and gives them heartfelt birthday shoutouts each year.

Fox gives lots of credit to longtime love Pollan for who his kids — Sam, 35, Aquinnah, 29, Schuyler, 29, and Esmé, 22 — have grown into.

In a Mother’s Day post the actor shared in 2022, he wrote, “Our children are beautiful, sensitive, intelligent, empathetic, independent, compassionate, adventurous, lovely people.”

“That’s your fault,” he added. “We all love you so much. Happy Mother’s Day.”

Earlier this year, the Fox family had a very special reason to celebrate when Schuyler got married on mom Pollan’s birthday.

In June, the producer tied the knot with her longtime partner in the heart of New York’s Catskill Mountains, and an onlooker described the event as a “picture perfect garden party.”

“The weather was absolutely perfect, despite the heat wave,” the onlooker told PEOPLE of the couple’s big day. “They dined under a tent, and it really looked like a picture perfect garden party.”

“They seemed like such an adorable, gentle family,” they added.

As for his Back to the Future legacy — which, whether his daughters have watched the entire trilogy or not, remains very much intact — Fox told PEOPLE earlier this year that being “‘80s famous” as a result of his roles in the movies is pretty “cool.”

“There’s an expression I referred to when they gave me an honorary Academy Award — somebody said to me the day before, they were talking about getting this award and being famous and they said ‘You’re ‘80s famous,’” he told PEOPLE in April. “I thought, wow, that’s cool. ‘80s famous. Right, we were different.”

“We were tougher. We didn’t have social media, we didn’t have any of that crap. We were just famous. Left to our own resources,” he added. “And it was an amazing time.”
