Nolan Gould Would Make Personalized Ornaments for Modern Family Castmates and Crew Each Christmas
Nolan Gould was all about adding a personal touch when celebrating the holiday season with the Modern Family team.
While appearing on a recently released episode of the Dinner’s on Me podcast, the actor, 25, opened up to his former castmate Jesse Tyler Ferguson about gifting personalized Christmas ornaments to their Modern Family collaborators.
“Every year for Christmas, you know, there’s always a stress about, like, what to give the crew for Christmas, what to give other cast members for Christmas, [and] you gave the greatest gift ever,” Ferguson, 48, told Gould. “Every year you made these really sweet homemade ornaments that would incorporate a photo, usually like a press photo, from Modern Family.”
Noting that he would sign “Love, Nolan” on the back of the gifts, Gould explained, “Some of the people that were on [the show] for all 11 years have all 11 of them,” to which Ferguson replied, “That’s right — I’m one of them.”
Gould then detailed that his annual present still resonates, explaining, “[At] Christmastime every year, somebody will send me a photo of all of them on the tree.”
Gould starred as Luke Dunphy on Modern Family for 11 seasons from 2009 to 2020, participating in a cast that included Ferguson, Ed O’Neill, Sofía Vergara, Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Rico Rodriguez, Ariel Winter and Sarah Hyland.
Elsewhere during the podcast appearance, the star reflected on growing up while filming the popular ABC series, stating, “I would not change my childhood. Like, I’m really happy. I got to be part of such an incredible show. I know that like a lot of other child actors don’t have it as lucky.”
Though he admitted being a child star meant “all these doors closed on kind of a traditional lifestyle,” Gould said that it has since “opened up these really beautiful doors on a traditional, nonlinear lifestyle.”
He explained, “I’m doing a lot of the things now, maybe that people kind of did when they were young.”
“I’m happy with where I’m at now, and I’m so glad I got to be a part of the show,” he continued. “I wouldn’t change that.”
Seasons one to 11 of Modern Family are available to stream on Hulu.
