2024 Emmy Awards: See the Stars Celebrate TV on the Red Carpet and More Live Updates
The 2024 Emmy Awards are here — and Hollywood is getting a second chance to celebrate television’s best and brightest this year.
Just eight months after the delayed 2023 Emmys were held, the stars are gathering, once again, at the Peacock Theater. This ceremony will be hosted by father-son duo Eugene and Dan Levy for the first time.
Expected attendees and nominees include The Bear‘s Jeremy Allen White, Only Murders in the Building star Selena Gomez and The Morning Show‘s Jon Hamm, among other A-listers.
PEOPLE will also be broadcasting live from the red carpet in downtown Los Angeles on Sunday, Sept. 15, starting at 6 p.m. ET/ 3 p.m. PT. The show will be streamed on PEOPLE’s social channels, including YouTube, TikTok, X, Instagram, Facebook and Roku Channel.

Reese Witherspoon seemed to tease as such during the Emmys red carpet on Sept. 15, telling E! during the network’s preshow that while she hasn’t watch any of the Real Housewives franchises but she did recently meet one of the stars.
“I did sit next to a Real Housewife on a flight recently,” said Witherspoon.
Witherspoon didn’t want to name names, though. “Well we might have a Hello Sunshine project cooking now, but I can’t say anything. But it was cool, it was really cool,” she said.

Matt Bomer and Jonathan Bailey hit the red carpet at the Peacock Theater on Sunday. The actors play lovers in Fellow Travelers, the hit limited series, which is up for multiple awards at the 2024 Emmys. Bomer and Bailey are also both nominated for acting awards.
Fellow Travelers, based on Thomas Mallon’s 2007 novel by the same name, follows the relationship of two gay men (Bomer and Bailey) who fight for their love amid the Lavender Scare of the 1950s in Washington D.C. through the ‘80s.

Make no mistake — Jennifer Aniston is just as fabulous as she seems.
The actress’ The Morning Show season 3 love interest Jon Hamm had many kind words for Aniston during the ABC Emmys preshow on Sept. 15.
Of Aniston, Hamm said, simply, that you’d be “hard pressed to find somebody as lovely and present and professional and amazing.”

Kathy Bates Clarifies Retirement Comments on Emmys Carpet
Kathy Bates is not imminently retiring.
The iconic actress made sure to clarify recent comments she made about her career during the 2024 Emmy Awards on Sunday.
“No plans [to retire from show business],” she assured during the E! preshow. “No, I think it was misunderstood.”
In a new interview with The New York Times published on Sept. 8, Bates said of starring in the new Matlock reboot, “This is my last dance.”
On the Emmys carpet, Bates told E! “Because I had one foot out the door before I read Jennie Urman’s script [for Matlock] and I was like, ‘Ah okay, now we’re talking.’ And now I want the show to run for years and years.”

It’s been over two years since This Is Up wrapped, but star Susan Kelechi Watson insists the cast hasn’t stopped communicating.
At the 2024 Emmys, the actress, 42, spoke to PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly on the Red Carpet Live show about their group chat, saying it’s “still alive and well.”
Anytime I talk to anyone from our show — you know, whether it’s me talking with Sterling [K. Brown], Mandy [Moore], Chris [Sullivan], anyone — it’s like, you kind of do, we just share this history with one another and it’s just always there,” she said. “And beyond that, we’re friends. I’ll always have that part of This Is Us because we’re all kind of going through life together now.”

The Scottish actor, who took home an Emmy this year for hosting Peacock’s hit reality competition series The Traitors, walked the red carpet at the 2024 Emmys in a plaid ensemble perfect for the Scotland setting of the show. But it was another outfit on the top of his mind.
While chatting with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly’s Red Carpet Live on Sunday, Cumming was asked about Taylor Swift’s own plaid look at the 2024 MTV VMAs, which had many on the Internet comparing her to him.
“Bitch, stole my look!” he joked, noting that he had posted an Instagram about it last week with a “A’hem.”
“It was hilarious,” he said. “Actually, in the next season of The Traitors, it might be the next designer, but there’s a look I have that’s very similar. But I love it.”
“So many people said, ‘Taylor Swift looked like Alan Cumming,’ which is a sentence I never thought I would hear.”

Joshua Jackson is preparing to set sail for his new series Doctor Odyssey, but his career has sometimes come upon rough waters over the years.
“It happened to me a couple of times,” Jackson told Laverne Cox about not always loving Hollywood on E!’s live red carpet preshow at the Emmy Awards on Sept. 15. “I’ve had such an unbelievably lucky life, fortunate life do this for 35 years now. But through those times there’s difficulties like every life, some bumps and bruises.”
Continued Jackson, “And there’s definitely been some times where I’ve questioned whether or not I still had the fire, the passion, to do this. Because I really truly love what I do and when the passion isn’t there it feels like somebody else should have that op[opportunity.”
Now, though, Jackson feels “life is good.”
“I love my life, I love what I do for a living, I got a beautiful little girl [daughter Juno],” said Jackson. “There’s not much to complain about.”

Speaking about her sisterly reaction (Elliott’s Bear character is the sibling of White’s Carmy), Elliott told PEOPLE and EW that she actually met the actor’s “real-life sister last night.”

Walton Goggins Teases the New Season of White Lotus During Emmys Red Carpet
Walton Goggins is nominated for Fallout during Sunday’s Emmy Awards, but PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly’s Red Carpet Live show just got the scoop on another popular series the actor is a part of.
Goggins is appearing in the third season of White Lotus, and said on Sept. 15 that he’s excited “for everybody to see what [creator Mike White] wrote.”
“Nobody writes an existential crisis like Mike White does,” said Goggins, who is starring along who is starring alongside an ensemble cast that includes Carrie Coon, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Patrick Schwarzenegger and more.
Of filming the third season in Thailand, Goggins gushed, “It was one of the greatest experiences of my life.”

Actress Liza Colón-Zayas, who portrays Tina in the 2024 Emmy-nominated series The Bear, glittered in a green Christian Siriano gown on the red carpet on Sept. 15.
She posed hand-in-hand with her real-life husband, David Zayas, who appeared opposite her onscreen for season three of the series as Tina’s spouse.
Colón-Zayas is nominated on Sunday for outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series.
Hosts Dan and Eugene Levy Are ‘Determined’ to Make the Emmys ‘as Great as It Can Possibly Be’
Dan and Eugene Levy aren’t intimidated by their big hosting gig at the 2024 Emmys. In fact, they’re more than ready to step up to the plate.
In an interview with PEOPLE ahead of the show, Dan said, “We’re both really hard workers and we’re determined to make it as great as it can possibly be.”
“We want to create an atmosphere that feels really welcome and celebratory,” continued the Schitt’s Creek alum. “This is a huge night in so many people’s lives and we just want to be there to kind of make it as festive as possible for everybody.”
Eugene teased that his son Dan is “a perfectionist” but the latter insisted they’ve both been passing back and forth notes.
“We’re both sending equal amounts; he just doesn’t quite know how to work his email as well as I do. So we’re dealing with a few technical issues, but that’s totally fine,” Dan said.
